Port of Colombo

While many parts of the harbor remain closed to the public due to security issues, it is still worth talking about a walk around the area to experience commercial and naval activities as a result of decades of civil war. The Port of Colombo is not only Sri Lanka’s busiest port, but also South Asia’s busiest because of its ideal location in the Indian Ocean.

Having undergone extensive renovation, the port handles much of the foreign trade in the country and ranks among the world’s 35 most important ports. The Sri Lankan Navy Western Fleet is also home to it, another reason for the presence of heavy security. Nevertheless, this is a sight to be seen with its mixture of modern architecture and historical structures.
