Beira Lake , Colombo

The Beira Lake extends from Fort to the heart of the city, making a wonderful walk and allowing you to soak in the exotic atmosphere of the diverse capital of Sri Lanka. Once spread over more than 165 hectares of land, it was reduced a decade ago to 65 hectares.

Under colonial rule, it became the ideal mode of transportation due to its numerous canals and far reach. Surrounded by lush greenery, enjoy strolling around the lake or renting a swan boat and paddling around the waters. A large suspension bridge leads to Lover’s Islands, where numerous Sri Lankan couples are seeking privacy because of the religious country’s public display of affection. In addition, at the Seema Malaka, a beautifully maintained temple, visitors can marvel.
