Under the guidance of President Ranil Wickremesinghe, the President’s Fund and the Ministry of Education have jointly launched a scholarship program for students who excelled in the GCE O/L examination. The program aims to support students’ higher education and encourage academic excellence across the country.
The Zonal Educational Office will assess students’ skills, aesthetics, sports, and extra-curricular activities, as well as their economic and social status when awarding points for the scholarship program. The scholarship program will award a total of 30 scholarships per zone, providing support to 3,000 students in 100 educational zones throughout the country. The Ministry of Education has informed schools through a circular and published a newspaper advertisement to encourage students to apply for the scholarship program.
