In a recent statement, Sri Lanka’s largest state-owned retail chain, Lanka Sathosa, has announced a further reduction in the prices of ten essential consumer items. The discounted prices will be effective immediately from March 24th in all Sathosa outlets across the country.
Among the reductions are a decrease of 120 rupees per kilo for red chillies, bringing the price down to 1,380 rupees, and a reduction of 11 rupees per kilo for local samba, now priced at 199 rupees.
Additionally, the price of a kilo of big onions will be reduced by 10 rupees to 119 rupees, while dried sprats will be reduced by 25 rupees to 1,100 rupees per kilo.
