The Acting Secretary General of Parliament, Mr. Tikiri K. Jayathilake, announced on Thursday(16th) that the Parliament has scheduled a meeting from March 21st to 24th. The decision was made during a session of the Committee on Parliamentary Business, which was presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Ajith Rajapakse.
Accordingly:
The Parliament convene next Tuesday, the 21st at 9.30 am and from 9.30 am to 10.30 am is allotted for Questions for Oral Answers. Thereafter, Rules under the Council of Legal Education Ordinance published in the Gazette No. 2208/13 are scheduled to be passed without debate.
From 10.30 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. Resolution for the implementation of the recommendations of the Select Committee of Parliament to investigate into incidents of infringement of privileges of the Members of Parliament and of the Parliament and to make suitable recommendations in that regard is scheduled to be passed following debate. Furthermore, Regulations under the Petroleum Resources Act published under the Gazette No. 2313/47 made by the Minister of Power and Energy, the Acting Secretary General says.
Motion at the Adjournment Time by the Government have been scheduled to be taken up from 5.00 p.m. – 5.30 p.m. thereafter.
Wednesday 22nd March time has been allotted from 9.30 a.m. – 10.30 a.m. for Questions for Oral Answers. Thereafter, Two Resolutions under the Essential Public Services Act, Six Resolutions under Section 8 of the Appropriation Act No. 30 of 2021, Resolution under the Customs Ordinance published in Gazette No. 2312/75 are scheduled to be approved following debate.

Questions at the Adjournment Time have been scheduled to be taken up from 5.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Thursday 23rd March time has been allotted from 9.30 a.m. – 10.30 a.m. for Questions for Oral Answers. Acting Secretary General of Parliament stated that the Regulations under the Electronic Transactions Act published in Gazette No. 2308/08, Regulations under the Welfare Benefits Act published in the Gazette 2310/30 are scheduled to be approved following debate, thereafter.
The Committee has also decided to present three Motions in relation to the Annual Reports of various Statutory Institutions. Furthermore, agreement has also been made for the Second Reading of the Chartered Institute of Transport of Sri Lanka (Incorporation) (Amendment) and Shaili Edutainment Foundation (Incorporation).
Motion at the Adjournment Time by the Opposition have been scheduled to be taken up from 5.00 p.m. – 5.30 p.m. thereafter.
Friday, March 24th has been set aside for Votes of Condolence for four former members of Parliament. Accordingly, the Votes of Condolence of the late Hon. Ms. Larine Perera, Hon. Reginold Cooray, Hon. Buddhika Kurukularatne and Hon. Muthu Sivalingam have been scheduled from 9.30 a.m. – 5.30 p.m. on the said date.
