Sri Lanka is set to host the world’s only itinerant women’s adventure race, Raid Amazones 2023, to the hill capital of Kandy between 19 and 29 March this year. With over 250 female athletes taking part, the event is expected to generate up to EUR 10 million worth of publicity globally.
Sri Lanka’s national carrier SriLankan Airlines has been the official partner of Raid Amazones since the recommencement of flights to Paris in 2022, and President and Co-Founder Alexandra Debanne has personally praised the country and its hospitality. Debanne said, “I am delighted to be coming back to Sri Lanka and I am confident that this year’s Raid Amazones will show the world how safe and authentic the destination is.”
This event is expected to help bring further awareness of Sri Lanka as an adventure travel destination in France and the rest of Europe and will draw in a new wave of thrill-seekers. For SriLankan Airlines, this is a great way to promote their flights and the country of Sri Lanka.
