The Ministry of Agriculture has stated that the Department of Agrarian Development is in the process of distributing 6.98 million litres of diesel, gifted by the Chinese, to the farmers for agricultural purposes.
This will cost the government around Rs. 122 million, which will be taken from the Ministry’s budgetary allocations to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.
The paddy farmers who cultivate half an acre to two-and-a-half acres of land will receive the diesel free of charge, with a farmer cultivating two-and-a-half acres receiving 15 litres.
