Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella tweeted that over seven million people in Sri Lanka had got two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine as of yesterday (August 28).
- As a result, a total of 7,042,418 persons have received full coronavirus vaccination to date.
In his tweet, Minister Rambukwella also stated that Sri Lanka is on pace to vaccinate 60% of the population by the middle of October this year.
In addition, he claims that the government is working to reopen the country.
- According to the Epidemiology Unit, at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has been given to a total of 12,309,254 persons.
The COVID-19 vaccination program of Sri Lanka is still in operation and long queues have been observed near the vaccination centers despite the ongoing curfew.
