Another 606 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Sri Lanka, bringing the overall number of new cases to 1,786 per day, according to the Health Ministry’s Epidemiology Unit.
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 259,011.
Since the onset of the pandemic, there have been 225,952 confirmed recoveries and 3,077 confirmed deaths in Sri Lanka.
According to data from the Epidemiology Unit, 29,606 active patients are currently being treated.
Covid-19 Deaths
Sri Lanka’s Director General of Health Services announced 47 additional COVID-19-related deaths on Saturday (June 29).
The official death toll in Sri Lanka as a result of the virus has now risen to 3,077.
The newest victims verified today, according to data supplied by the Department of Government Information, were 31 girls and 16 males.
One of the victims was under the age of 30, 12 were between the ages of 30 and 59, and the rest 34 were aged 60 and up.
On Recoveries
As many as 2,481 more novel coronavirus patients were discharged from medical care within the last 24 hours as they have recovered from the infection, the Ministry of Health says.
