For the first time in the country’s history, Sri Lanka Police has appointed a female police officer as the Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Imesha Muthumala has been named Deputy Director of the CID, according to the police.
The appointment was made on the approval of the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security.
The Police Headquarters stated that SSP Muthumala has 14 years of experience in the police service following her appointment as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on 03rd November 2007.
Imesha Muthumala holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Ruhuna and a Law Degree from the Open University. She has studied in the United States, Thailand, Malaysia and India, according to the Police Headquarters.
She has also served in the Nugegoda Police Division, the CID and the Police Clearance Report Unit.
