The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has issued an extraordinary gazette notification Wednesday (09) directing all manufacturers and traders of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to ensure that adequate quantities of the domestic cylinders weighing 12.5kg containing Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) shall be available for sale at all LPG sales outlets island wide.
According to the gazette, any trader who has in his possession or custody or under his control the domestic cylinders weighing 12.5 kg & containing LP Gas for purpose of trade within Sri Lanka shall not refuse to sell the domestic cylinders weighing 12.5 kg containing LPG or in any manner directly or indirectly compel consumers not to purchase such cylinders.
This Direction will come into effect from 09th June, 2021.
The extraordinary gazette notification was issued by the Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority Maj. Gen. Shantha Dissanayake (Retd.) on Wednesday, 9th June under the Consumer Affairs Authority Act No. 9 of 2003.
