Reigning Mrs. World Caroline Jurie today expressing sincere concerns defended her recent actions at the Mrs. World Sri Lanka pageant and said time has come for her to relinquish the crown for the values she believes in.
In a video statement issued today, Jurie expressed her dismay over the recent events that led to controversy and said she has no personal grudge against anyone or any agenda but wanted a fair stage and an equal opportunity for all contestants.
“I do not favor anyone and I will always stand for what I believe is right,” she said adding that rules and regulations should apply for everyone equally
“Rules aren’t there for us to find loopholes so that we can win at any cost. I believe rules and regulations are there to serve a purpose,” she said.
Jurie said she had raised her concerns from the very beginning but since her voice was unheard and stepped down from the judge panel the day before the contest. As other stakeholders were not responsive she had to step in at the last minute for what she believed is an injustice to the other contestants.
At the end of the video, Jurie removed the crown saying she is now ready to hand over the crown.
The reigning Mrs World has also issued an official statement regarding the incident. (Colombo Page)
