According to Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardena, a special permit procedure will be implemented to import Palm oil, which is necessary for the production of bakery and confectionery products.
As a result, the decision to ban the import of palm oil would have no effect on the related trades, he said earlier today in Parliament (April 07).
If anyone wants to import palm oil, they may make a request to the Secretary of the Ministry of Finance.
In response to a query from MP Kumara Welgama, he said that if the goods meet the necessary requirements, the manufacturing process will not be hampered.
