Special attention would be paid to the importation of eco-friendly vehicles, said State Minister of Money and Capital Market and State Enterprise Reforms Ajith Nivard Cabraal told Parliament yesterday.
He also observed that special attention has been paid to the manufacturing of vehicles locally. State Minister Cabraal further pointed out that a vehicle assembling and value addition system is being implemented in the country expeditiously.
The number of vehicles imported to Sri Lanka from 2015 to 2019 was 25,155,46.
The amount spent on these vehicles imported amounts to Rs. 1,239 billion, State Minister Cabraal pointed out. These vehicles have been imported from 103 countries. (Daily News)
