The Committee on Parliamentary Business chaired by the Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena decided last week to hold Parliament Sittings for this week from February 23rd to the 25th.
Accordingly, the debate pertaining to the Regulation under the Gem and Jewellery Act, taken upon the 10th and adjourned to be taken up on the 23rd of February, will continue from 11.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.
Parliament will begin at 10.00 a.m. Tuesday and will continue with Questions for Oral Answers by the Members of Parliament until 11.30 a.m.
On the 24th of February, Parliament will be held from 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. where the time will only be allotted for Questions for Oral Answers by the Members of Parliament.
On the 25th of February the Vote of Condolence of the former Speaker and late W. J. M. Lokubandara will be presented in Parliament from 10.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
The Leader of the House Dinesh Gunawardena, Chief Government Whip Johnston Fernando, Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella and Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva, Dullas Alahapperuma, Douglas Devananda, Mahinda Amaraweera, Prasanna Ranatunga and MPs Anura Kumara Dissanayaka, Gayantha Karunathilaka, Dilan Perera, Rishad Bathiudeen, Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Mano Ganesan, M. A. Sumanthiran were present at this meeting held.
