Sri Lanka’s inflation, as measured by the change in the Colombo Consumers’ Price Index (CCPI) declined to 3.0 percent in January 2021 from the previous month, the Department of Census and Statistics reported Friday.
The CCPI for all items for the month of January 2021 increased to 138.7 from 138.0 in December 2020.
For the month of January 2021, on year‐to‐year basis, contribution to inflation by food commodities was 2.11 percent and the contribution of Non Food items was 0.94 percent.
Year on Year inflation of Food Group has decreased from 9.2 percent in December 2020 to 6.8 percent in January 2021 while that of Non‐food Group has decreased from 2.0 percent in December 2020 to 1.4 percent in January 2021.
The moving average inflation rate for the month of January 2021 was 4.3 percent. The corresponding rate for the month of December 2020 was 4.6 percent. – CBSL
