In keeping with the current Covid-19 Transport Scheme, the Ministry of Transport has decided to revise bus fares with effect from midnight today (10).
Bus fares will thus be raised by a ratio of 1.2 and the minimum bus will increase from Rs 12.00 to Rs 14.00, Minister of Transport Gamini Lokuge said.
He made this remark in order to launch a set of recommendations on the use of public transport in the midst of the pandemic of Covid-19.
The decision was taken in line with the new rules, taking into account the inconveniences faced by private bus owners while transporting passengers, the minister said.
