Updates on Curfew Lifting: The quarantine curfew currently enforced in the Western Province and other areas will be lifted tomorrow (November 09), Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said.
The decision will take effect tomorrow morning at 5.00 a.m.
The Army Commander said, however, that it was decided to further isolate a number of areas after defining them as danger areas.
12 police divisions in the District of Colombo and several apartment complexes have reportedly been listed as danger areas. He pointed out that through these locations, the majority of COVID-19 cases currently located in the Colombo District were reported.
In addition, 08 police units in the district of Gampaha, 03 in the district of Kalutara, 02 in the districts of Kurunegala and Kegalle will also be further isolated.
The following areas will also continue to remain subject to isolation orders until further notice.
Only the minimum number of employees at state institutions
Despite the lifting of the quarantine curfew tomorrow (09), the Ministry of Public Services, the Provincial Councils, and the Local Government has stated that state agencies can only bring in the required number of workers to carry out duties.
Due to health issues, however, only the minimum number of workers necessary to perform the functions are instructed in public institutions.
Ministerial Secretary J. J. Ratnasiri instructed the heads of each institution to decide on the minimum number of workers to be called.
The majority of the employees can continue to do their homework, as the government information office announces it.
Update of Office trains to operate from tomorrow
Under the COVID-19 preventive recommendations released by the health sector, Sri Lanka Railways has decided to operate office trains from tomorrow (November 09) onwards.
These trains would not, however, stop at police divisions declared to be isolated areas. Accordingly, the office trains will not stop at the following railway stations:
- Peralanda Railway Sub-Station
- Ja-Ela Railway Station
- Thudella Railway Sub-Station
- Kudahakapola Railway Sub-Station
- Kurana Railway Station
- Negombo Railway Station
- Kattuwa Railway Sub-Station
- Panadura Railway Station
- Pinwatte Railway Sub-Station
Kelani Valley Line:
- Baseline Railway Station
- Cotta Road Railway Sub-Station
- Kurunegala Railway Station
- Muththettugala Railway Sub-Station
Expressway entry and exit points will be reopened from tomorrow
According to Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana, all the entry and exit points of the expressways in the Western Province will re-open for traffic as usual from tomorrow (09).
He added that at the entry and exit points for surveillance, police officers were detained.
