In order to avoid the spread of Covid-19, the government has declared that steps will be taken to provide relief to low-income citizens in the Western Province where the quarantine curfew is in force.
Accordingly, in the Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara districts, an allowance of Rs 5,000 will be given again to families who have lost their livelihood, the Department of Government Information said.
Meanwhile, arrangements have been made for all families under quarantine to provide a relief package worth Rs 10,000.
The relief programmes will be organized by District Secretaries, Divisional Secretaries, Grama Niladhari, rural committees and security forces.
In order to meet the needs of citizens in the Western Province during this time, steps have also been taken to introduce a door-to – door marketing system for critical food products.
