Local News: Senior citizens have been advised to remain home as much as possible to discourage them from catching the coronavirus as a precaution.
Senior epidemiologist Dr Sudath Samaraweera said while coronavirus has not spread among Sri Lankan communities, the risk remains.
He said senior citizens and others who have different diseases are at higher risk of contracting the virus.
As a result, he encouraged senior citizens to stay at home and only move out if possible. He also said the public had to follow the new standard strictly, even by maintaining social distancing.
Samaraweera said that people traveling in public transportation have now ignored earlier advice from health officials and travel without social space.
He also said the public should always wear a face mask and wash hands. More News
