Local News | Colombo: The Defence Ministry has received Rs. 4.95 million worth donations for Ranaviru welfare, today (Aug 28).
A cheques worth of Rs. 2.7 million from the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, Rs. 2 million from the Huawei Technologies Company Limited and Rs. 250,000 from an American citizen Dr. Priyantha Ranaweera, were handed over to Defence Secretary Maj. Gen. (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne at the Ministry.
All the donations were given to improve Ranaviru welfare activities channeled through the Ranaviru Seva Authority (RVSA) following requests made by RVSA Chairman Maj. Gen. (Retd) Nandana Senadeera.
Defence attaché of the Chinese Embassy Snr. Col. Wan Dong, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Huawei Technologies Lanka Co. (Pvt) Ltd Liang Yi, Deputy CEO Huawei Technologies Lanka Co. (Pvt) Ltd Ricardo Xiao, Dr. Priyantha Ranaweera and Defence Ministry officials were present at the occasion.
