Local News Sri Lanka: People of Sri Lanka who are entitled to vote in the Parliamentary General Elections and who are quarantined because of COVID 19 will be permitted to cast their ballots on August 05, officials said after 5 pm.
In a press release, Elections Commissioner-General Saman Sri Ratnayake was quoted saying the specifics of how this will be achieved would be revealed later on.
The decision was taken at a discussion on the current pandemic situation and the behavior of the forthcoming COVID 19 National Operations Center for Prevention, held yesterday, July 28.
“In the future, all decisions on this will be told,” Rathnayake said in a statement from the Presidential Task Force.
He also claimed that all the steps are being taken to hold the parliamentary election under Health Authorities supervision.
A total of five new patients with COVID-19 were registered to the island at 6 a.m. The Government said this morning.
