Local News Sri Lanka: Acting IGP D.D. Wickramaratne has told all of the country’s police stations that permits are not needed for Kithul to tap kids and therefore advised them not to take legal action against Kithul kids tappers.
In issuing a statement, the Police Spokesman ‘s Office stated that the 2018 Excise (Amendment) Act, No. 4 states that the tapping and extraction of infants from Kithul trees can be done without permission.
It said, however, that information has been obtained that some police station OICs continue to take legal action against individuals engaged in tapping Kithul trees and extracting babies from Kithul trees without permission.
The Acting IGP has therefore instructed all police stations not to take legal action against any person engaged in tapping Kithul trees and extracting infants from Kithul trees as they are not required to obtain a permit in accordance with the above act.
