Local News Sri Lanka: Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said the government is looking to increase the number of guests permitted to attend wedding ceremonies or other social events to as much as 200.
The Minister, yesterday (23) at a meeting with the Sri Lankan Reception Halls and Caterers’ Association, said the related proposal had already been forwarded to the COVID-19 Outbreak Controlling Presidential Task Force.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the country the number of guests permitted at a wedding or social event was restricted to 100 people.
Representatives of owners and caterers at Reception Hall, however, pointed out that the number allocated is not adequate.
Minister of Industrial Export, Investment Promotion, Tourism and Aviation Ranatunga also asked members attending the meeting to register with the tourism authority if they haven’t already.
The aforesaid registration process is currently facilitated via online.
