Local News: The Postal Department says steps were taken to deliver mail and goods to few selected destinations by air and sea.
Accordingly, Aviation Postal Services will deliver mail and goods by air and sea to the destinations that SriLankan Airlines will launch services in May.
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and day-to-day operations at airports coming to a halt, the Department said international mail trade was fully non-operational and hence mail would only be sent to foreign destinations after ensuring that the destination country operates postal services and air transport facilities under the current conditions.
The airlines also advised that flights that be cancelled, updated, and delayed under these circumstances.
The Postmaster General said due to the coronavirus pandemic, the period could face more extensions.
