Local News: It was decided to resume all functions of the Motor Traffic Department with a limited workforce, subject to certain restrictions. The department’s services had been suspended because of the ongoing curfew imposed in the country to prevent coronavirus spread.
Customers, who wish to obtain services provided by this Department including registration of vehicles, issuance of driving licenses, issue of vehicle number plates and vehicle inspection reports, are required to call the Department from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm on week days and make an appointment for a date and time.
Services will not provided for any reason without an appointment. Also, the one day service the Department previously implemented will not be activated until further notice.
As a grace period is granted in relation to the period of curfew to meet the requirements, the customers are expected to comply with health guidelines and behave responsibly without any undue hassle following the advice given by the government.
It is emphasized that when a date is reserved, it should be reserved according to the government’s system based on the last digit of the National Identity Card.
Also, the customers are advised that an appointment given by the Motor Traffic Department should not be viewed as a permit for curfew.
