Financial News: By going up for a second consecutive day, the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) closed trading for the day. At today’s closing of trade, the All Share Price Index (ASPI) had risen by 26.29 points (0.60 percent) to 4,393.54.
However, the S&P SL20 fell to 1,707.02 at the closing by 22.13 points (1.28 percent). The daily turnover was at $3.6 billion. Also on Wednesday Sri Lankan stocks rose, boosted by gains in financial and consumer stocks.
Yesterday’s benchmark stock index closed 2.81 percent at 4367.25, snapping a losing streak of two days.
Meanwhile, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the central bank had announced stimulus measures to strengthen the tourism-dependent economy after closing markets.
