Financial News: After a seven-week closure, the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) which was reopened on Monday (May 11) closed for trading right after the opening bell as the S&P SL20 Index plummeted around 10.11 percent from the previous close (March 20, 2020).
The S&P SL20 Index today showed a 196.93-points fall to 1.750.49. This is a 10.11 percent decrease from the previous closing (March 20, 2020).
Thus the market will be closed for the rest of the day, as set out in the SEC Directive of 30 April 2020.
The CSE’s last open day, 20 March, the S&P SL20 dropped by 11.72 percent.
