Local News: A group of 272 Sri Lankans, who were stranded in Australia and unable to return to the country when travel restrictions imposed globally due to COVID-19 pandemic, arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) this morning on a special SriLankan Airlines flight.
The SriLankan Airlines flight UL-605 carrying the group of Sri Lankans arrived at the Katunayake International Airport this morning at 6.12 am from Melbourne, Australia.
Upon arrival, all passengers and their luggage were disinfected by a team of Sri Lanka Air Force personnel.
Subsequently, airport health officials and airport security officials examined the passengers to find out whether any of them is infected with coronavirus.
After the operation, all the passengers were taken by the Sri Lanka Army in buses to the quarantine centers to undergo the required quarantine process.
