Local News: In the backdrop of the COVID – 19 pandemic that claimed one life in the country late Saturday, the Ceylon Bank Employees ‘Union has encouraged the use of ATMs and cash deposit machines over visiting Banks.
The CBEU, issuing a statement, noted that there are 5031 ATM machines in the country and that banks have taken the requisite disinfecting steps.
The Union has advised customers visiting banks for cash deposits and withdrawals to comply with government-specified safety regulations when in queues.
The statement also allowed banking customers to use inter-bank and intra-bank transfers of online utilities, pay utility bills, credit card bills, and even check the balance of the account.
The CBEU pointed out that inquiring into the services that banks offer before visiting them will help clients prevent any inconvenience.
It also advised the public to obtain only services that are of utmost importance especially when visiting a bank.
