Development News Update: Railway services minister of state C.B. Rathnayake says that it will take steps to stop rail carriage imports.
Rathnayake noted that steps will be taken in the future to design and build railroad carriages in the country. He added that every rail carriage thus produced would save the country about 70mn Rs.
The minister added that steps will be taken to assess whether the imported power sets are appropriate for Sri Lankan railroads.
