Local News Update: The Transport Ministry of Sri Lanka says that from 1 January 2020 it will not allow loud music in buses and recommends passengers to use the 1955 hotline to lodge complaints about the matter.
According to the Ministry, private bus operators will be added to a series of 1,000 classical audio songs and high-quality music videos that they can play on their journeys.
Today at the Makumbura Multi-Modal Transport Hub, the songs chosen under the guidance of an expert panel will be distributed to bus drivers.
Meanwhile, it has been recommended that the National Transport Commission investigate the maximum number of decibels that can be played in such a way that passengers are not offended.
