Local News Update: The new Director-General of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has been appointed by Chandani Werapitiya, a senior banking professional, lecturer, global speaker and panelist in international forums with 32 + years of experience.
Until joining SLTDA, she worked as People’s Bank’s Senior Deputy General Manager, IBSL’s Alternate Board Member (2012/2019), International Chamber of Commerce Vice President (2016/2017), RDB Bank Director (2010/2012) and Sri Lanka Handicraft Board (2010/2012).
She also chaired numerous committees related to infrastructure development projects and sustainable energy development projects as Head of Corporate and International Banking, including petroleum procurement committees, subsidized fertilizer schemes, water and road development projects, as well as helping to bring down further funding lines and grants to the Sri Lankan community from ADB / World Bank.
A former high school pupil of Kandy Woman, she holds a BSc (Hon / Special) in Business Administration and an MSc in Management.
She is also a renowned banking sector trainer whose aim for SLTDA is to make it an efficient government entity with the highest performance record based on national interest.
