Sports News Update: In the 13th South Asian Games, the Bangladesh women’s cricket team continued their winning run, defeating Nepal by 10 wickets in their second tournament match at Pokhara today to give themselves a strong chance to make the tournament final.
Upon winning the toss and electing to field, Bangladesh bundled Nepal with Rabeya Khan bagging four wickets for just eight runs for just 50 runs in the T20 affair. Jahanara Alam made the early inroads, picking up two wickets in three overs for two runs, while Salma Khatun, Nahida Akhter and Fahima Khatun each bagged a wicket.
With openers Murshida Khatun and Ayesha Rahman hitting unbeaten 22 and 26 respectively, Bangladesh took the win in just 7.4 overs. Bangladesh’s ten-wicket victory saw its hopes of clinching gold alive in the tournament. Bangladesh is leading the four-team table with four points, playing Maldives in their last group phase match tomorrow. The tournament final is scheduled to take place on December 8.
Earlier in their first match yesterday in the T20 cup, Bangladesh had broken into a seven-wicket victory over Sri Lanka’s fellow title contestants.
