Business News Update: Paving the way for tomorrow’s bright stars, the Bank of Ceylon’s “Ran Kekulu Scholarships 2019” in calling for applications from Grade 5 scholarship achievers who have obtained highest marks in 2019 Grade 5 scholarship examination.
The Bank will be granting 2000 Scholarships worth Rs.15,000/- each to deserving Ran Kekulu Account holding students and 100 scholarships worth Rs.25,000/- to deserving Personal Foreign Currency Minor Account (PFCA Minor)holding students.
The application form can be downloaded via the Bank’s web site: www.boc.lk, FaceBook page or obtained from the nearest BOC branch. Those intending to apply (Applicants) are requested to hand over their applications at any Bank of Ceylon branch on or before 27th November 2019. BOC Ran Kekulu account holders who have maintained a minimum account balance of Rs. 5000/- by 5th October 2019- a day before the 2019 exam results were released, will be considered eligible for the Scholarship grant.
As for PFCA Minor account holders the account balance should be USD 250/- or equivalent in foreign currency by 6th October 2019 to be eligible to receive the scholarship grant. Children who qualify in both Ran Kekulu and PFCA Minor accounts and have the required pass mark to receive the scholarship at the 2019 examination will receive both scholarship grants.
Apart from the scholarship grant the Bank has arranged a special gift to all BOC Ran Kekulu account holding students whose account is opened and in operation by October 6th 2019 and has achieved the required district pass mark. This special gift will be made available to students at every Bank of Ceylon branch on a stipulated future date
As a part of its CSR initiatives, the bank will make its appreciation of the courage and dedication shown by twenty five differently abled students who have passed the Grade 5 scholarship examination 2019 by offering them a scholarship of Rs. 15,000/-, as monthly grant of Rs. 1000/- per month till the student passes through O/L examination.
The bank has been providing motivation to students to come up with exemplary results at this examination through programs such as this scholarship program and “BOC Hapana” scholarship training program. The Bank of Ceylon has been granting Grade 5 scholarships since 2002. Its “BOC Hapana” coaching program has passed over 1300 coaching sessions and has trained over 700,000 students all over the country.
The special parent’s training programs that are conducted along with this “BOC Hapana” program has directed over 400,000 parents on how to support their children in their education not only to pass examinations of this nature but also on how to empower themselves through quality education.
Having series of programs running in both Sinhala and Tamil languages by a team of experienced panel of school instructors and teachers, it covers around 80 programs annually to provide this free of charge service to a wider range of students. As a Bank with an inherent duty towards the country, BOC has undertaken promoting education in the country as one of its prime Corporate Social Responsibilities.
