Local News from Sri Lanka: President Maithripala Sirisena has declared the Polonnaruwa Ancient Technology Museum wax statue museum open yesterday (12).
On July 23rd this year, the Polonnaruwa Ancient Technology Museum was founded by President Sirisena as the first such museum in Sri Lanka to educate the present generation on the ancient technical know-how and to conserve the objects for the generation to come.
A special attraction of this museum is the aforementioned wax statue museum, which depicts statues of all Sri Lankan leaders in the post-independent era.
President Sirisena has taken steps to donate gifts and souvenirs that he received during tenure from various world leaders, and today the gallery containing these objects has also been declared open.
The land deed of the Polonnaruwa Ancient Museum of Technology was handed over by the President to the Director General of the Sanuja Kasthuriarachchi Department of National Museum.
