Development News from Sri Lanka: The Civil Aviation Authority states that from 1 November flight operations between Jaffna and Chennai will begin.
H.M.C. Nimalsiri, the Civil Aviation Authority’s Director-General, said that an Indian airline had come forward on this project and agreed to operate daily flights. He said air traveling from Jaffna to Chennai will take just about 50 minutes to an hour. He claims that there will be more operators to run flights between Jaffna and Chennai.
Jaffna International Airport, Sri Lanka’s third international airport, was declared open yesterday (October 17) by President Maithripala Sirisena.
