Italian ambassador to Sri Lanka, Rita Mannella, says the Italian government is ready to provide technical assistance and investment opportunities to generate electricity from the waste that is a growing problem in the country.
The Ambassador said that in the future Sri Lanka could face the growing demand for electricity and that preparation for it is necessary. During an official discussion with Power Minister Ravi Karunanayake, the ambassador made this statement.
The Ambassador discussed the possibility of a waste disposal plant that could absorb between 100 and 300 tons of waste. Minister Karunanayake thanked the Ambassador for working on such a low-cost, environmentally friendly power generation project to meet future electricity demand.
