Local News from Sri Lanka: Health sector officials warn that the density of dengue larvae has increased rapidly in 8 districts. An official attached to the National Dengue Control Unit said this could result in an increase in the number of dengue patients.
Meanwhile, Western province, Kandy, Ratnapura, and Chilaw districts have reported an increase in the number of dengue patients. To date, more than 53,000 dengue cases have been registered, according to the National Dengue Control Unit Administrator, Dr. Aruna Jayasekara.
There has also been a total number of 70 deaths due to dengue.
