Sports News from Sri Lanka: Former all-rounder of Richmond College Kamindu Mendis scored a career-best 169 yesterday in Hambantota to allow Sri Lanka A to take the first unofficial match against Bangladesh A.
In response to the first innings of 360 from Bangladesh A, Sri Lanka A powered by 282-ball innings from Mendis produced 450 to take a lead of 90 in first inning. Bangladesh A scored one run in their second innings before the game petered out in a draw. Mendis who scored 19 fours in a strong concentration show shared in stands 69 with skipper Ashan Priyanjan (37) and 94 with Priyamal Perera (61) before finishing seventh in 422.
Bangladesh Test off-spinner Mehidy Hasan sent 46.1 overs at a price of 150 runs for five wickets. The second unofficial test will start on October 4 at the same venue.
