Local News from Sri Lanka: The closing date for submitting requests for the Presidential Election 2019 postal vote was extended until October 04, the Chairman of the Elections Commission indicated. The earlier deadline for submitting requests dropped at midnight yesterday (30). Acceptance requests for postal votes began on September 19 and persisted for a 10-day period.
Meanwhile, on 30 and 31 October, the Election Commission announced the dates for the Presidential Election Postal Voting. The Commission indicated that qualified postal electors must submit their requests to the returning officer of their respective constituencies before or on time.
An Extraordinary Gazette was published on 18 September declaring the presidential election on 16 November 2019. The deadline for calling for ballot nominations was also declared as 07 October 2019 in the Gazette.
