Economy News from Sri Lanka: The western province continued to account for the biggest share in 2018 as estimated by the Statistics Department of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) according to the Provincial Gross Domestic Product (PGDP). The second and third largest contributors, respectively, were the central and northwestern provinces.
In the Western province, the greatest rise in the share of PGDP was recorded year-on-year. North Central Province was the only other province that reported an rise. The shares of the provinces of Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva fell in 2018, while the shares of the provinces of North West, Southern, Eastern, and Northern remained unchanged.
