Local News from Sri Lanka: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs conducted an Integrated Consular Mobile Service[ ICMS] for the eighth time this year with the assistance of the Nuwara Eliya District Secretariat at the District Secretariat on Saturday, September 14, 2019, under the guidance of Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana. In Trincomalee, Kandy, Kurunegala, Dambulla, Anuradhapura, Puttalam, and Mannar, the Ministry had earlier performed ICMS.
During the mobile facilities, U. L. Mohammed Jauhar, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Director General of Consular Affairs, heard the grievances of the general public and instructed appropriate authorities to tackle them. The Ministry of Foreign Employment, the Department of Immigration & Emigration, the Department of the Registrar General and the Foreign Employment Office of Sri Lanka, together with representatives from the Ministry’s Consular Affairs Division, participated in the ICMS.
Services given to the individuals of these districts and neighboring regions include certification of foreign employment and education papers, assistance to families of Sri Lankans stranded and arrested abroad, registration of births, weddings, deaths in the overseas territories, aid in compensation-related matters and aid in obtaining police clearance certificates
The Ministry also participated in this year’s mobile facilities in Ampara, Batticaloa, Mullaitivu, Monaragala, Divulapitiya and Jaffna under the domestic program’ Rata Wenuwen Ekata Sitimu.’ Secretary of Foreign Affairs Ravinatha Aryasinha attended the mobile service held in Divulapitiya under this programme, visited the ministry’s stall and attended the President’s Progress Review Meeting.
The Ministry also carried out this year’s mobile services under the domestic program’ Rajya Sewaya Gamata Gena Yana Janatha Sewaya’ in Matale and the program ‘ Enterprise Sri Lanka’ in Anuradhapura and Jaffna.
