Sports News from Sri Lanka: H. G. Sasindu (Makandura CC) Sankalpa and K. Shashikala Dilshani (Makandura CC) from both the Southern Province won the 14 km All Island Nestomalt marathon for the boys and girls, while Ambagasdowa President’s College was awarded the general champions when the much-anticipated college marathon in Giriulla was played out on Saturday.
K. Nishaban of the Eastern Province of Gamini CC and R. Nakkawatta NS (North-West Province) A. Lahiru Rukshan earned second and third places in the boys ‘ section of the main event. Southern Province dominated the main event of the girls as Southerners won all top three places. M.D. Hashini Madushika of Devapathiraja CC, Galle and Hiruni Dilmini Sudusinghe of Narandeniya NS secured the 2nd and 3rd places in the 14 km marathon respectively.
M. Wekada MV’s L. S. Wickremasinghe representing the North West Province won the 4 km marathon of the children while W won. Ihala Kadigamuwa MV’s Ayesha Sanduni (North-West Province) emerged first in the 4 km race of the girls.
Katukenda Sangabodhi MV’s Sahan Devinda (North-West Province) and S. H. M. Chandima Shanuka of the College of Presidents, Ambagasduwa (Province of Uva) won second and third places in the 4 km race of the boy.
P. Tharindi Nethmina of Kuliyapitiya CC (North-West Province) and Rashmi Prabodhini Wickremasinghe of Vishaka High School, Badulla (Uva Province) finished in the brief marathon of the girls in second and third respectively.
