Local News from Sri Lanka: Pulathisi InterCity train service today commenced the first run from Colombo Fort to Polonnaruwa. President Maithripala Sirisena joined the inaugural Pulathisi train and traveled from Fort to the railway station in Maradana.
The InterCity train from Pulathisi travels daily at 3 p.m. From Fort Station and at 7:45 p.m. from Polonnaruwa Railway Station. The trip starts at 3.45 a.m. And reaches Fort Colombo at 9:06 a.m. It stops at railway stations Kurunegala, Mhawa, Kekirawa, Habarana, and Hingurakgoda.
Pulathisi is a luxurious S-13 train. This service fulfills the long-sighted need for special train service on President Sirisena between Colombo and Polonnaruwa.
The president, who traveled to Mardana from Pulathisi, checked Maradana Railway Station’s primary control room.
On this occasion, Minister Arjuna Ranatunga, Minister of State Ashoka Abeysinghe, High Commissioner of India Taranjit Sandhu and several other guests attended.
