Polonnaruwa has a distinctive position in Sri Lanka’s history as the country’s second empire. After the fall of the historic empire of Polonnaruwa, which lasted about 166 years, the establishment of the peasant settlements of Minneriya in the latest past has once again led in large-scale housing in these fields. The region also has a wealthy historical significance as fertile territory.
The scholarly book’ Polonnaruwa’ was collected as a compilation of the region’s glorious history and subsequent gradual growth. It includes a compilation of papers from the present region sector, not just limited to historical interpretations.
