Local News from Sri Lanka: After concluding his official visit to the Maldives this morning, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe returned. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe agreed in a joint statement yesterday on the significance of working together bilaterally, regionally and multilaterally to combat the increasing threat of terrorism, violent extremism and radicalization at home and overseas.
It said both rulers also agreed to tackle and counter threats posed by organized crime, piracy, drugs, and trafficking in human beings. “Both rulers addressed methods to further enhance current bilateral collaboration and people-to-people contacts between the two nations.
President Solih voiced his sympathy and condolences to Premier Wickremesinghe on April this year’s catastrophic terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka. President Solih praised the Government of Sri Lanka’s rapid action to apprehend the offenders and provide community security, “said the declaration.
