Business News from Sri Lanka: Governments that come into power on the basis that it impacts poorly the entrepreneurs of the country, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya said, should not change the significant and essential measures on national interest taken by the respective governments under any circumstances.
At the 2019 CNCI Annual Achiever Awards ceremony held by the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI), Speaker Jayasuriya expressed these views. Also present was Lakshman Silva, Minister of State Buddhika Pathirana, the guest of honor. Their various organizations represented over 500 local industrialists and service suppliers.
The Speaking said entrepreneurs were the main players in the economy of the country because to a higher extent the economy relied on them. He outlined the CNCI’s invaluable role in promoting Sri Lankan companies and said their contribution to the domestic economy’s development is commendable.
Speaker Jayasuriya said the CNCI should also help the industrialists grow, innovate and expand and encourage them to join the fresh markets as the obligation of the entrepreneurs is to further stimulate the economy of the country.
“Furthermore, the Chamber’s primary objective is to expand the tiny and medium-sized industries of the country as too much to contribute to the growth of the village economy and also to provide jobs for our rural youth.”He also said that the Government’s goal was to take business entities into the villages and to raise the financial norms of entrepreneurs in rural and remote areas under’ Gamperaliya’ and’ Enterprise.’
Referring to Bill Gates, Speaker Jayasuriya said our entrepreneurs have a duty to raise the living standards of rural youth as Bill Gates used his cash to fund good causes for education and people’s public health.
CNCI, Chairman Raja Hewabowala pointed out that this award ceremony promotes and upgrades not only the country’s industrialists and service staff, but also helps boost the economy of the nation. Saw Engineering (PVT) Ltd won the Crystal Award, while 10 businesses received top prizes.
