Local News from Sri Lanka: A short time ago, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe left for Maldives on an official three-day visit. On an invitation extended by Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Wickremesinghe undertakes the formal visit.
He is followed by a high-level delegation of representatives including ministers of the cabinet.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe will chair the 4th Indian Ocean Conference 2019, scheduled to be held at the Paradise Island Resort from 3 to 4 September. The Indian Ocean Conference is organized by the India Foundation in collaboration with the Maldives and S Government. Rajaratnam International Studies School, Singapore. During his visit, the Prime Minister will also speak to the Maldivian Parliament.
The two nations are also expected to sign a Visa Facilitation Agreement, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on higher education and water supply issues, and a MoU on Vocational Training and Youth Development. Both nations will also sign a MoU on promoting the rights of kids, females, elders and disabled people.
