Local News from Sri Lanka: The Irrigation Department has warned that the water level of the rivers Kalu, Gin and Kelani is currently increasing to’ Flood Level.’ The river’s water point has reached the level of the spill from the Ratnapura area due to the downpours influencing the areas near the Kalu River, the Irrigation Department further said.
Meanwhile, Gin River has also reached flood levels in the Thawalama area owing to the prevailing heavy rainfall. The Kelani River has also reached the spill level in the Kithulgala and Deraniyagala areas, the Irrigation Department said, issuing an instruction on the possible increase in the water level of the river in the Glencoe area in the next few hours.
